Birmingham roller with a unique color. It is pink with black flecking...how did this happen and what is it called?

Thanks for the help.

Tapp I just got this bird from a guy who has had the same family of birds for over 20 years. He quit banding about 15 years ago, as he raises them for his own pleasure, and has just recently decided to sell a couple. Myself, I will band every squab raised in my loft, but I am just getting started back into the hobby after several years of hiatus...

Thanks for the info Spinner Jim and speedball

Never heard of a qualmond, but I would call it a lavender tar fleck. Have a nice cock, this color, what I call prolific in the kit, stands out, real good Birmingham roller.

Its a lavender tick like said before. A blue almond would still have some of the buff ground cover coming out. The second pigeon you can see the buff color coming out it is a blue almond.

quailty, qualmound is a gene modifier discovered by Joe Quin a well respected pigeon breeder. he introduced it to flying rollers many years ago. Sorry Joe if I just through your name under the bus. I did not mean to because I respect all the good that you have brought to the pigeon hobby. I know you will get and ear full from some now though.

Dave,
Tell him the whole story. Joe Quinn first discovered it in a common pigeon. It is not indigenous to Birmingham Rollers.

While the name roller fanciers want to call it will vary, (David's mention of Lavender Tick is most commonly used), the "what color is it" is that it is a spread ash red (most likely bar underneath) and split for blue/black.
In other words, it is an ash red with spread and the cock's father was a blue/black.
Its not qualmond nor almond.
