Hey Buddy, If you go to the NBRC website you can make your own custom bands. Click the link general store and you will see numbered custom bands. Since I am a member of the NBRC I place on my bands NBRC 03 on the first line. Brian Middaugh on the second line and my phone number on the third line with the area code. Then there is a large 4 digit number to the side. I stated with ooo1. But there is other bands but the english bands are different. There isn't much you can do with them except change the preffix and numbers. But I hope you find what your looking for. Brian

You may buy Custom 4 Initial Roller Leg Bands in 25 Packs from this forum's website at:
http://www.roller-pigeon.com/catalog/item/861199/1308888.htm
This is where I buy my bands. I like them because they are roller size. The NBRC's bands are big Homer size.
But they only have 4 Initials. If you want a full name and address or phone number you have to go with the big Homer sized bands. I don't know of anyone who sells Roller sized bands like that. I wish I did.
Go here: http://www.nbrconline.com/oderformperson.htm There's many colors to choose from.

Alan. You said; The NBRC's bands are big Homer size.
How do you come to the conclusion that their bands are the Big Homer size bands? They are the same size that I have bought from Foys that are roller bands. And I like the big numbers on them.I can see them a lot better too. They are a little bigger than the NPA bands but they are still roller bands. See this other NBRC band webpage, it says, "They are STANDARD homing pigeon sized leg bands." http://www.baynondds.com/smartads/bands/bands.html
Homer bands are size 8, whereas Roller bands are size 7.
No big deal, they are just a little too big for Rollers, especially if you have a small family like mine. Plus being a personalized band it makes them seem even bigger. I guess there's no real harm, they don't come off. They just look too big.
I don't know of anyone that makes customized name and address bands in size 7. I wish I did.

Alan, I'm the webmaster of the NBRC and there isn't any other website but this one for the NBRC. Now the instuctions I placed above is how you order customized leg bands. They are for rollers I believe they are 7mm inside same as the others. They are taller than the english style and I use them with the english style bands. I was talking to Jef in the chatroom last night and told him how he could order the customized bands. The only draw back to the customized bands is you have to order 100. Which in most cases you will use more than a hundred or right at it.
Alan I just went out to the loft and grabbed some leg bands and I got my digital calipers. Here is what I found: Metal english style bands rollers {NBRC} 0.2830in or 7.19mm Metal english style bands rollers {NPA} 0.3010in or 7.65mm Plexiglas type bands rollers {NBRC}{Customized bands} 0.2930in or 7.44mm Plexiglas type bands rollers {NBRC} 0.2985in or 7.59mm
Metal english style bands homers {NPA} 0.3355in or 8.52mm
It seems that each year they differ ever so slightly. Like last year it .0007 larger and the year before that it was .0005 larger. I guess it depends on the mfg. set-up. Hope this helps and best of luck! Brian Middaugh
Alan, instead of just name bands that just has the info on them. Might as well get the numbered name leg bands. This way you can add the year and your info as well as a number. So you will only need one band on the bird. And if you set it up right it will have everything you will need to retrieve the lost bird.

Brian,
Who's website is http://www.baynondds.com/smartads/bands/bands.html
It says it's Henry Cook's. Isn't he the one who takes care of the bands for the NBRC? It has the NBRC heading and the same address for Henry Cook and his email address of cookhhbj@sbcglobal.net
I'm ordering some now but I'm not sure about ordering the numbered and dated bands. If I order 100 that are 2005 and I won't get them for 8-10 weeks (Sept), I'll waste a lot of bands, plus they are 10.00 more. By ordering the plain name and address bands I can use them in 2006 as well. Am I correct or did I miss something?

Alan. You are correct. The only thing with just the name bands is you have to buy another numbered band for the other leg. This is often done but it is just not cost effective for me.When I run out this year I just ordered the IPB Plexiglass bands from Foys.I was planning on ordering extra next year but I don't think I will be raising as many next year.David

Maybe next year (in Nov of this year) I'll order 100 of the numbered name and address bands, then I'll only need one band per bird. The good thing about the non numbered bands is they can be used in any year as long as your phone number don't change.
BTW... why do Homer people use them? I wouldn't want a bird back that got lost trying to get home ;)
