Sounds like canker. Medicine will take care of it but act quickly your birds are starving to death. Go to a feed store that has chicken supplies and purchase some type of canker cure. you might even get a vet to get you some this evening but it`ll cost ya. I would hurry tho . unless anyone else has a better suggestion.

By your description, it sounds more like Pox, which is caused by mosquitos which spread it after drawing the infected blood from a pigeon which carries it. I've never seen them get so ill they couldn't eat though.

Well, for starters, most pet stores don't know jack about pigeons. So avoid them and consult the more wise folks at one of the big pigeon supplies such as Jedds, Global, etc.
Now, if it is Pox, which is sounds like by your description, one commonly used product is called Indian Ink. You scrap open the scabbed area, then apply the indian ink to the open wound which if done about twice a day, usually will dry them out, leaving only a small scar. Pox are similar to people pox in that once healed, they will leave a scar. Now a game cock friend told me to use Creme of Tartar, found in the spice section at your grocery store. When put in the water it helps to dry those areas out. I tried it once and indeed it did work. I was told that is what they used way back in the day to treat children with chicken pox. You might give one or both of those a try. By they way, if they don't die from it, they are immune to it afterwards.

Jef,the bumps or warts definetly sound like pigeon pox lesions, leave them alone they will dry up and fall off within 2 weeks time. What often accompanys pox is canker and cocciodosis, this is whats knocking off your birds, secondary infections not the pox.Without being specific obtain a good 4 and 1 product from JEDDS[1-800-659-5928]or your regular pigeon supplier,it will cover a broad spectrum of possibilities.Seperate any dibilitated birds to a hospital cage and treat your flock when the 4 in 1 arrives. My guess is anything that has showed signs of infection will need to be killed, its a rare case that a bird is cured and goes on to be a great bird, they will usally carry the disease and pass it around the loft in there droppings or respiration.
Jef,there is something that is causing this, without a doubt the pox is mosquitoes, mosquitoes is a moisture or high humidity/ventilation problem in the loft, the canker or cocciodosis is a loft hygiene, moldy or old food,or crap in the drinking water, stress from overcrowding, new birds etc.I hope you can get a grip on the sickness in your loft,A bird specific veteranarian can perform a neocropsy on a bird if it dies to find cause of death and help with specific medications.I hope things turn around for ya.ALOHA,Todd

If you have a bird that is hitting don't fly it. Breed it to a lazy roller. So you may end up with some nice birds.

If you have a bird that is that young and hitting all the time, that last thing you want to do is breed it. Rest it for a while, feed it up and then refly it. If you have a younger kit that isn't rolling, move it into that kit after the rest period. If it continues to hit, it will probably end up culling itself.

Jef, I'm in fresno and can help if you need help. Your bird probably has an eye cold. Use Aeuromycin (I think that's how you spell it).

Jef. It may have got injured by another bird slapping it with its wing or some other type of injury.
I always carry a small bottle of Visene that people use for their eyes.If I see something like you described I put some Visene drops in the eye.Couple of days and it clears the eye up.You said waterery so I think it is more of an injury than a one eye cold.If the eye is mattered shut I use a product called Sore Eye Treatment that Foys sells. It will cure any type of eye injury or Cold.It is a tube type ointment and is worth its weight in Gold.LOL. Hey david,
Speaking of one bird being hit by another...
I saw something I've never seen before today!
One of my hens who happens to be very fast in the roll, (bragging LOL!!) came spinning from the top of the kit and crashed into another. The bird who was hit dropped from about 150 feet as stiff as a board as if it were hit by a falcon and into a field in back of my house!! Get this.... It lived!! It's eye was swollen from the contact.
Over the years I've seen birds bang in the air a 1000 times but never one get hurt and drop!!! Man I'm still in shock! Only in Victorville!! LOL!

See you in the roll!

How are your birds doing now? Did that eye infection get healed? Did you find out where the bugs were getting in? Did you cover the area with a smaller gauge wire under the size of a dime? That way the bugs can't bite your birds. And no more Poxs.
