I have some and overall I like them. They aren't any better or any worse than most families of rollers. You'll get some stiffs, some roll downs and some real good uns! There are "Key" birds in his family and you have to breed through them to find the right ones. Of course, this is exactly the same with most families of rollers. If there is one thing about Danny's birds that is most previlant is that they are very, very highly inbred which in my opinion makes them great candidates for outcrosses to a similar family background. Some of the best I raised off his birds came from such matings. But that is not an absolute either as I have a few pair of straight Horners that are good producers, probably because on pedigree they are more distantly related than some of the others.

Rifireball,

I have them and love them. If you need to know any specific thing about his birds, just post the questions and I will respond. I was told by some fanciers that his hens are usually the ones are the most active and good spinners. But I have many cocks of danny's that are as good as the hens and better. he has some fine pure Jaconnette rollers.

Also, do a search on this site in the archive on Danny Horner posts and read the reponces. This question have been asked a few times on this site in the past. Thanks.

Jay

Hi I purchused some birds strait from Danny last year after a friend sold me some of Dannys birds in 2003 and I liked the birds started spinning at a early age 3 months and were frequent I still have some of the birds I purchused and bred them this year and am now flying the breeders and the offspring .

Why becuase I like to see roll and thats what Dannys birds are about they put on a nice show

I am very happy to say I got my moneys worth I now have enough that I can breed for myself and fly and enjoy!

In the area I live I need the birds to develop early before the sharks kill them I dont have more then 6 months of clear skies to fly.

Last years birds are now flying again and have not lost anything after being locked down and some breeding (so much for early developers not being able to last )it took about a month of flying to get them back in rolling shape.

George,

That's what I've found as well.

Are you related to Bobby Ruiz?

George,
Have you noticed a difference in the roll when comparing the longer cast Horner birds to the short, small, compact birds?
Thanks,

Russ

Hi Russ
The longer cast birds show more wing, but they still roll and develop at the same age as the short cast birds .

I bred a long cast and short together and the babys come out about 50% short and 50% long so I guess its already in the blood .

Russ when you get a chance come over to my house and see the spin that the Horner line produces.

Hows the Birds doing for you ?
