Bull eye is when you can't see what color the eye is..the eye looks totally black. Like a bull...All it is.....is like the pigeon is wearing sunglasses. A "cracked eye" is an eye that is half bull eye(black) and half orange(or yellow or pearl etc)..or what ever color is underneith. The other colors are self explanitory...yellow/lemon, Pearl(white), orange, gravel (kind of grey and pearl specks....hope that helps.

Hi, Paul. What about a good number of my Mason birds? The inner eys is black, as you would expect. The outer is dark brown. You can quite clearly see the difference between the black iris and the brown outer, but that brown doesn't appear to conform to the accepted outer eye colours.

What do you reckon?

I have few bull eyes too, is it fault? should we breed from those. I have a pair always give one bird with bull eyes and I have to cull it for non-kitting. The nest mate always come out real good, kit and spin 40+

I've noticed that the bull-eye matter comes up fairly often, so anyone interested might want to look at the previous posts on the subject.

I can say from the English perspective that flyers who've been questioned about it couldn't care less one way or the other, and will happily breed from a bull-eyed bird. My Masons are naturally good kitters and I've got quite a percentage of bull-eyed birds amongst them - well, at least I think they're bull-eyed. As I mentioned above, rather than being completely black, the outer eye is a very dark brown.

All the baldheads that I have are bull eyes. They are some of the top rollers I have. They are cocks also. I really don't think the eyes have to do anything with the rolling abilities. I personally like bull eyed look. Go figure...
