hey all,Iam building my breeding loft in my small pole barn,I had a mouse problem until several large black snakes moved in (I dont see them but I see there shed skins-- my question is will the snakes go after the young inthe nest and If they do how do I get rid of them?

I have a resident blacksnake or two, and have lost one young bird, as a result. But I NEVER see any mice or rats. So I figure it's a good trade. I'll anty up one or two birds a year in exchange for keeping my area mice and rat-free! YITS Cliff

Mike,
Best to use concrete for your floor and use the 1/4 inch screen mesh for the loft. That way neither mice nor snake can get in. Along the door opening, use wood wedges to surround the gap for the door on the opposite side for the door when it opens. This way you make sure all areas are covered. Your loft should always be varmint proof and animal proof such as cats and raccoons. Best of Luck..

Thanks to all, I have put enough poision to kill an elephant (noplace tye birds can get to it) and i know how to kill a mouse and rat ---but how do you kill a snake?
