List,
I bought a sack of wheat the other day from a new supplier and found out that the wheat contains worms in it. How do you get red of the worms in the wheat sack without sifting through the whole sack and pluck each one out. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Insects in wheat
Hi Jay
I have used diatomaceous earth (DE) many times. I learned this from an organic gardner. You can do a GOOGLe search for "diatomaceous earth in grain" and read about it and see sources to buy.

Take it back and get some that doesn't have worms. I have had to take feed back a couple times and they always exchange it. Those worms will turn into little moths in no time.

Plus the worms eat the germ of the wheat, which contains the protein, reducing the nutritional value to less than that of milo. YITD Cliff

Jay, if there are too many then you needs replacement. The wheat I buy some time have those bugs but not too many(usually at the bottom of the bag). What I do is put the wheat in big tray and let it sit in sun for day or two. It works. The other thing I noticed is they are only in wheat. I never had bugs in milo and peas bags. Probably they like wheat. Hope that helps. Thanks, -Rauf

You can also put it in a freezer overnight. That kills the bugs.
