Hey everybody, Question... Regarding cocks versus hens, lately I've been hearing some folks who prefer more of one or the other in their kits for variouis reasons. Do you prefer one or the other? Why, and what is the composition of your comp kits?---------- See you in the roll! Big Al "High Plains Spinner Loft"

It doesn't matter to me either way. As long as they are working together, I don't prefer one over the other. If there were any slight differences I have noticed, its that the kits with more hens tend to want to lift more than a kit with more cocks in it. At least that is what I have noticed here. Brian.

Well,
My current A team is made up of 15hens and 5 cocks. The hens are as follows...1 Andalusian, 2 Ruby Rollers, 2 Roe Blue Check, 1 Roe Blue Bar, 8 Roe/Emami and 1 Campbell. Cocks are 1 Lavin, 1 Campbell, 1 Andalusian, 2 Roe/Emami.
I really do not care...as long as they work together as a team.

This year my best kit has 6 cocks and 5 hens. I always raise more hens that roll good compared to Cocks.I think I know why but it is to soon to tell.I don,t have any old birds I fly.In my backup kit there is 7 cocks and 7 hens.I am thinking hard about seperating the sexes and flying them seperate.I have heard fellows have good luck with this.I tried it once before but didn,t really give it much of a chance.I felt they performed better in a mixed kit.Something I will try over the winter.David
