I'll be there in force with my show breeds. The only rollers I'll show will be my American Rollers.

Scott, NPA Grand Nationals is January 19-21 at the Orange Show Fairgrounds in San Bernardino. (same place the pageant is held) They will be using two buildings this year instead of the one the Pageant usually is in.

Todd, the Pageant is still the Pageant, it was cancelled this year because of the Nats coming to So Cal. The LAPC would have a hard time putting on both events in two months. In other words the Pageant will be back next year as the Nats moves to Florida I believe.

I want to show some rollers too. How do I know who American and who is Brimingham? By the bands? And when filling out the entry form do you put flying roller or show roller?

The Show Roller is another breed altogether. It's a big round lump of feathers that doesn't perform. The American Roller is another breed altogether as well. If you don't know if you have American Rollers or not, most likely you don't. Just put "Birmingham Roller" on the entry blanks.

Here's what a Show Roller is: http://www.showrollerclub.org/

Here's an entry form: http://www.npausa.com/san%20bernardino%20national-mike_files/2006%20Grand%20National%20Entry.pdf

UPCD.
A show roller is nothing more than a Birmingham roller that has been crossed on other breeds. They used to call show rollers Dual purpose Birmingham rollers. Eventually the crosses and birds looks got so out of line, they had to divide them into their own breed. I always thought once they crossed the Birmingham roller onto another breed, they had created a mongrel until they named their new breed. Now they have their own breed the show roller. If your not sure if you have a Birmingham roller or a show roller, you can't go wrong putting down show roller as they are just Birmingham roller crosses.. Mongrel Lofts

I think she was wondering if by showing her Birmingham Rollers that made them "show" Rollers. It does not, a Show Roller is a separate breed of Roller, not bred for performance at all, only show and it has a completely different show standard than the Birmingham Roller she owns.

if its a perfoming roller . you put it in the performing roller class. if you put it in as a show roller it will be the 1st birds toosed. you may as well just send your money and leave the birds home

A question, she is a red shield mottle. Should I pluck her and make her white side. What would you do?

Colors and markings mean absolutely nothing in terms of performance roller shows Debbie. What you hear us talking about on the West site is largely completely different for rollers. One is a show breed, one is a flying breed.
