Does anyone have some simple plans or a web site that has plans for a free standing kit box. Would like to make a double kit box. Thanks. David Garcia

Dave, Kit boxes are as varied as colors of birds. Most are a 3x3x4 box on legs with a trap,a wire floor, and 25 perches. Mine sits about 12`` off the ground the front is 4`x4` the back is 3x4 so it has a slope. I have a mostly wire floor and a bob trap. I use inverted v perches. Some like boxes or pigeon holes. The most important factors are ventilation and easy access to handle your birds . Get out a sheet of paper and give it some thought write it down or draw it. Good Luck bro V99

Thanks, sounds easy enough. I live at 3200 ft. in the Sirria Foothills. Get some snow and most morngings the temp is down in the 20`s, you dont think the wire floor would be too cold? ranger632

E-mail me at paulfullerton@sbcglobal.net and I will send you some photos of my kit boxes. Mine range in size from 4 tall 4 wide and three deep, 4X3X3, the last is 4X34"X3. So my A team is in the smaller box...will hold up to 22 birds, the B-Team is in the next siz up and will hold 24 birds and the larger is the young bird/Training kit and it hold up to 30 birds. My kit boxes have a partial wire front with a board cut to cover the wire front part in fowl weather. the floor is wire but I also have a board that I can slide in and out to close it up a little more.
My kit boxes were about 120.00 each to build. That is nails, wood, wire, 4X4 redwood legs, comp roof shingles, caulk and latches. Mine is light but sturdy.
Anyway I will send you some photos of mine.

ranger632, I live at 5,000 ft, many days below zero, birds do fine on wire, but they sit the night (and much of the day in cold weather) on wooden v perches.

Kit Box: A rectangle box on four legs. Do not give too much space to birds to fly in kit box. Should be big enough to have room for feed tray and water and 20 perches.
