Looking. Several things could be hindering your birds from mating.Winter time, age, etc. etc.
If you are using breeding cages just let them do their thing and they will mate when they are ready.Same if you are using an open Loft.
Cold is the main reason why most of my breeders are sluggish in mating.Other than that I wish they would slow down at times.LOL. Give us some more info on what you are doing and maybe someone can give you a more detailed answer.David

put a light in your loft. and leave in on 12 to 14 hours a day and with in a week they will all mate up. mother nature has its own clock so you have to fool birds into thinking its a different time of year. cold has not a thing to do with it. its 15 right know and i have 12 young in the nest right now, how ever it is inportant not to bother the birds while sitting this time of year. i will not check an egg till the day they are to hatch

I'm with David on this one; obviously, it depends on the individual birds - the diehard shaggers just keep at it regardless of the weather. However, I've seen enough of mine huddled on their perches, waiting for spring, to convince me that the cold certainly has an impact. I too have some birds still breeding, but many have gone off the boil. I tried the prolonged lighting - in fact, I'm doing it right now, but it isn't making any difference. They do their stuff during the day, so a bit of extra light towards the end of the day doesn't seem to be having any impact. The hens have shut down, the cocks aren't so horny - nah, it's the cold.

Did you try visual aids? Maybe a good skin flick with some Marvin Gay playing in the back ground..lol.

Give them sun and some vitamins and they will screw like teenagers on red bull.
Brian.
