I am just looking for some opinions regarding my current setup. First a little background...
I have been raising rollers for about two years now. I started out with 3 pair of good quality birds and I stocked all birds that first year(took advise of Kowalski's- True spinning rollers). I was unable to fly due to my location but have since moved.
This year went well. I culled hard and have held over about 20 good spinners. My questions now are..
What should I do with my first year breeders that have never flown? I would like to cut back on some birds now that I have a good number of them. I have kept good records and know what each pair produced. Should I cull the pairs that didn't produce quality spinners? Should I switch the pairs to give them another chance? I would hate to get rid of any good birds. I also thought about making a kit up of these birds and flying them in the spring but I don't know how well that would work due to their age now with no previous flying. Any comments would be appreciated.

If you kept good records....then you should switch them around and see what happens. If the cock from the good producing pairs...produce on the non producing hens....the you know that you have some good cocks///the same works the other way. Whatever birds do not produce...even after switching around...cull them and then use what you have. Be very picky...with what you keep...make sure they are good producers. Cull whatever does not produce after being switched around.
