I have heard of breeders using Gatoraid in the hot summer to help thier birds to hydrate.

Has anybody on this site tried it?

What do you use, if anything?

I have never tried Gateraid for animals. I do get Super Vit from Global Pigeon Supply. It has vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and other good stuff. It is a powder that you add to water. Since I do not do heavy flying during the winter, I do not use it then, since my grit has the vitamins and minerals. I do use it during the other seasons. It gives my birds that extra boost.
Looking forward to other replies, got me curious now, LOL!

I've never heard of anyone giving their birds Gatorade, but it wouldn't surprise me of someone has tried it. It surely wouldn't hurt them. It will give them a sodium and potassium boost, which will aid in them retaining water (hydrating) I guess.
I use Vita-Pro Combo which is similar to the post above, vitamins with minerals and electrolytes. I don't give it to my kit birds though. The second time out they will be flying way too high and way too long. Occasionally I will give it to my kit birds if they are worn down and to the very young kit birds to put some kick in their infant butts. Other than that I only give it to my breeders and show birds.

I use Gatorade on a regular basis at shows, and shows only. I suringe the birds after they have been judged with about 20cc of 50% water and 50% Gatorade mix. I also do birds first thing in the morning at a show if it is more than a one day show. Why? I do this as there are lots of birds that will not drink at a show, and this helps them deal with the stress. I have reduced to the point now that I have not had a sick bird after a show in a couple of years.

I had used the powder vit/electro in the water for some time and about a year ago I stopped and switched to a powdered cage bird vit that goes on the seed. this left me with no vits to mix for the shows, Gatorade was perfect.
I had changed vits from the water due to the fact if you use water that is treated by a municipality/city/small town then the chemicals destroy most of the value in the vits quickly and they are doing little for your birds. The dry vit on the feed delivers a more reliable source. Also the water bowls stay a lot cleaner.
