Just a note of interest - Talking to an old racing bird who has had international success he says eye signing of racing birds is crap. He says that more than one study has been done to prove is statement.
Roller people know that eye signing with rollers is crap and this gentleman says it is also true with racing birds.
Has anyone heard the same or heard differently?

Nick, I have a very good friend who is successful with racing pigeons. I've been to his house and looked at the eyes of every winning bird and every stock bird he owns. Some will posess what is considered great performance eyesign, speed lines, distance lines, etc... and others won't. It's split about 50/50 of his birds with good eyesign and birds without it. Funny thing is, he doesn't believe in eyesign, but at the same time, if offered a chance to pick from 2 birds that were equal in every way, he would lean toward the bird with the better eyesign. Probably because a rich looking eye adds to the overall expression of the bird and is an indicator of health.

Nick I have noticed on my birds that the birds with the best spin always have a fast flexing pupil when you put the eye in the light and a very round pupil.
At first I did not believe that eye sign meant anything but now that I have looked at alot of birds I have noticed some differance .
On the birds that are overcooked too hot or unstable alot of times the pupil is lob sidded and not perfectly round or blemished
Thanks george

I have a very detailed old Roller article archived about eye signs in Rollers. If any one is interested, I'll post it on my website. Let me know and I'll look for it. It has been published in many Bulletins of the Past and most who has access to these would of read it all ready. Thor
P.S. Isn't eye flex different from eye signs?
