Do you order your feed mixed or do you mix your own?
Is your mix different for your air birds as opposed to your breeders?
Who do you buy your feed from?

Hey Nicksiders I buy my feed from a feed store. I use a 16% pigeon mix. Plus I add Milo and Wheat to that mix during the flying season. The milo and wheat have to be played with to see how your birds fly. I use 1 part wheat to 2 parts milo. In the winter I use the same mixture but, I add popcorn for added heat and decrease the wheat and milo mix. For the breeders I use a mixture of the pigeon feed, popcorn when needed and poultry crumbs(for breeders). They get all they can eat and drink when they are feeding the youngsters. Hope this will help answer some of your questions about the FEED. You have to experiment with your birds to see what exactly works for YOU Fly High and Roll On Paul

Nick, all of my loft birds, breeders included, get my show conditioner mix. I also continue to give it to the squeaker kits until they are good and on the wing. The rest of the kits I buy my wheat, peas and milo separate. I keep a five gallon bucket next to the wheat bin with a mix of the three. Right now I pretty much only feed my kits straight wheat with the occasional sprinkling of the good stuff if they have been working hard. The reason for straight wheat right now is our winter is warm and this time of year the baro is high and the birds will sky out very easily. During the summer and fall the air this thicker and I can feed them the mix on a regular basis without having to worry about them skying out.

During the Winter I just use a mix for the breeders. The kit birds get a watered down version (I add wheat and milo). During the Breeding season I put the breeders on a 28% pigeon pellet mixed with wheat and milo. I will mix one part pellet, one part wheat and one part milo. Every third time I mix, I will add one part sauflower. They stay on my mix until they are done breeding.
The kit birds during flying time in the summer they will get a 5:1 mix. 5 parts wheat and milo to one part pellet. They either get the mix or straight wheat and milo, depending on how they feel in the hand and how they are flying.
So...store bought mix in the Winter and spring and summer they get my mix.
