Guys I’m puzzled and confused as heck. I got another one of my hens having trouble laying her eggs. I don’t know what the deal is but she is unable to stand on her feet completely. She produced for me before with no problems at all. WHAT IS GOING ON?? Please help because I’m out of ideas. Thanks Later

Is she related to the other hen? What are you fedding? What is your pigeon program like? to the other breeder do you have any ideas? What causes egg bounding?

If she can't walk it sounds like calcium deficiency

Guys,
She didn’t pass the egg yet, and she is not related to the other hen. I feed Pure Grain Pigeon Mix, some of the best stuff out there $20 a 50 pound bag. I also feed grit (the red one). I clean every day change water at least twice a day, always have something in the water (vinegar, red cell,..). I mean I have pretty strict program. I just don’t know what is going on. Beats me ?????? Ideas???? Later

Sounds like Brain M. is right.
I only had two egg bound hens before. Both died because I never treated the problem. Both were very old birds.
Now, to what I saw from egg bound hens... you can see it. The butt area will be cropped up and swollen. When you run your hands over it, you can all most feel the eggs. Both hens didn't live but two weeks after I noticed the cropped up butt area. I did have one start leaving greenish droppings similar to sick birds.
By your description, I have had loaner birds in the past that did this. All the birds that did this all most did it on every round they laid. I had hens that would loose their sense of balance, bumped winged, loose flight ability, etc. They weren't egg bound but just lacked calcium.
Thor

Sounds like your birds need more grit/oyster shells?

Norm, your hens require Fiber. Give them feed that have a quite bit of fiber mixed with the good quality feed you have.

Fiber you say. Will do I just don’t know any more. She passed both eggs and she is getting a little better. I have to hand feed her for now but she looks little better. Guys I really appreciate all the advice, you guys are life savers and also saved me a lot of headache. Later
