Do you add any supplements to your feed; do you add anything to the drinking water?

Do you add these things everyday or have a schedule?

Do you add these things or take them away when you close in on fly day?

Do you feed heavier or lighter in preparation for a fly day?

TO THE WATER--I will give the kit birds vitamins with pro bios occasionally if I sense something is askew or if they appear excessively worn down from a long training push. This is not very often.

Do you add these things everyday or have a schedule?
NO--No, other than ACV which I wouldn't consider a "supplement".

Do you add these things or take them away when you close in on fly day?
YES--I have a routine which is similar to a lot of flyers. It includes hitting them with vitamins a few days before a fly and in conjuction with when I really yank their feed chain.

Do you feed heavier or lighter in preparation for a fly day?
BOTH-I build them up several weeks before, then start cutting the feed back slowly leading up to a fly. Then in the few days of rest before the fly, they are slowly fed back up. It's always a moving target and sometimes I'll modify this approach, or not do it at all. Depends on what the birds are telling me.
Better?..lol

Paul.

Sorry I missed you message. I called it a night early yesterday and I am not feeling well right now.....I think I am coming down with something, flu maybe.

We will get together. I see that you joined the NCRC. Are you going to the open meeting this February? I am a new member and I will be there. I might take a couple of birds to show..........not for sure yet.

you first of all have to notice your birds by observing their eyes their feather ruffled and the time of year summer winter spring and fall they all feed different
as for supplement only if you observe are they weak along with a higher protine mixed with wheat germ and vitamine fortified yeast.to bring them up to top shape.as for a schedule not really just your observations with time you will notice. also as for after the fly feed them up with a higher protine and the yeast and oil combo.and to set them up for fly day you break them down with the feed two weeks before or week and a half but only with observation of your birds this is tricky unless you know your birds to little protine and they will let you down to much and fly to high and forever and less roll to fast flying again back to observing your birds but to break them down does not mean less feed just milo, wheat.remeber they will loose to much wheight to quick. then back to the mix high protine of 15% or more one day two days wheat milo till 3 days before compatition only half the amount of feed with some electrolytes and vitamines in the water. on thursday feed them all they will eat with the mix feed and oil yeast.only after they have flown. then on friday just a 1/3 cup of feed if you fly in the afternoon if you are flying in the morning only a 1/4 cup and plenty of water with electrolytes after they have had all the water they will drink remove the water.this feeding method is only if you feed at night. but make sure you play with this method before actual compotetion so you can fine tune it for your birds.
just my two cents steve.
