Tony - I know that you move from California to Missouri. I have just excepted an offer on my home and I have bought a home in Marion, Arkansas. I have questions about what you used to move your birds. I will have about 40/45 in varying stages of developement. I have some ideas, but I would like to here how you set yourself up for the move and some of the precautions I need to take.

Hey Nick, congratulations on selling your home! Hope you got everything you wanted for it! Looks like you and I will be neighbors (sort of...LOL), you will be about a 4 hour drive from Seymour, MO.

They way I got my birds out here to Missouri from California is I had my wife who stayed in California (her employer asked her to stay an extra month) to ship them from LAX to Tulsa, OK all in one day.

I was on the road ALL day picking them up on a Friday and Saturday. We shipped in 2 lots just in case something happened like a lost shipment or accident…spread my risk out.

I paid over $600 for same day shipping service (I felt more comfortable having my birds arrive the day they were shipped). I used Continental Airlines and shipped about 80 birds.

I shipped a couple really young squabs and they made it fine (the same day shipping probably helped I think). I shipped no eggs. I also used the really large shipping boxes that are approved for shipping pigeons.

You may choose to ship by USPS Overnight Express Mail. I would ship in 2 or 3 batches and the one precaution I would recommend is to find out if your new location in Marion, AR will actually be overnight service or really 2 days or possibly 3 days??

I hope this helps out some. If you have any other questions let me know (loft design, weather proofing, etc). Feel free to come by the house and check out my setup if you like, I will look forward to meeting you in person...and WELCOME to the neighborhood! LOL

You brought up something I did not consider....shipping them via air or UPS. My only thought was the long trip in my little truck. I 'm going to rethink this move.

I will take you up on your offer........thanks
