I would really appreciate it if someone could explain in detail what this method entails and how it works. Thanks!

DD,
Read the article 'Outcrossing Made Simple' and would give you a great understanding of the pretzel method. Although I don't refer to it by name but it's in there. Hope this will help.

Darin keep in mind most families have two or more lines within the family , in other words say for example you have two cocks and 4 hens that are pre potent and lets say they are half brothers and the hens cousins to the cockes , so you start inbreeding around each cock, these in turn work out and the siblings produce also, so now you start a line around each cock and progress many generations by inbreeding. Although both lines are related they geneticly are pulling away from each other even though they have the same charactoristics for the most part and yet each line is tightning up through inbreeding. Now comes the pretzel as you want to pull in some vigor from fresh blood, you breed into the line from the other line, then take the best offspring and put it back into the line that the best sibling resembles the most and then continue inbreeding. It is just a way to infuse fresh blood by linebreeding without having to go outside the family. Scott

Thanks a bunch guys. Ivan had mentioned it to me once but I didn't get into what it was with him so I've been curious since then.
