When I give my birds a bath in a tray of fresh water during the days I'm also watering them with electrovites,1/3 of the birds in my breeding loft go for a drink like they haven't had any water for awhile.Wondering if they hate the taste of the medicated water and if they are getting enough water on those days theres no fresh aqua available??? Cool website. Thanks

Hey Santandercol, welcome to the site. Glad you like it.
Yes, I believe the breeders can detect a difference in the water with meds and just pure water. I'm not surprised that many will want to consume a large amount of fresh water when made available after only drinking treated water. Glad you're onboard and happy to have you posting. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey just a quick clarification. Are your birds watering and bathing in the same water? If so you should watch they don't become ill. Just My Two Cents!! C.J.

Yeah ,well, when I put the tray in the flypen,it's only in there an hour or two,but of course they jump right in wash their feet and everything else and take a big glug you know like kids in a swimming pool.I guess maybe it would be a good idea not to let them take a dunk on vit day so at least they get some vits instead of waiting for their bath water. Thanks for the comments. Kelly.

I recommend a mixture of Garlic, vinegar, iodine, electrolytes, and a bit of schnaps.
after a couple of weeks on this program - your birds will never take a drink of water again.

It is ok if they bath and drink from the bath water. You can never stop them, beside pigeons are hardy and it would not hurt them. You should keep your birds as close the natural state as possible so that they can build their immune system accordingly. Once man get a hold of screwing with their ways of keeping healthy, by adding or taking minerals and vitemins or medications. Then for sure you will have sick birds.

I water 2 days electrovites,2 days garlic,2 days vinegar with mother then 2 days pure water.Everbird in my loft is healthy so far,and I'm amazed how fast the squeakers grow.Only have had my birds for a month and a half, and they are breeding like a religious family!!Have 3 pair of Birminghams from Bill Boones line in Vancouver,Canada. One pair has been building nests for over a month but still no eggs.Have some show homers as well and they are like banties.Very broody. One pair on the second round already.Need to build a young birdloft quick, and a kitbox for my rollers.Think I'll build that with a decent fly pen cause I can't see keeping them in the semi dark and then almost starving them to make them roll.I like the natural way as much as possible. Cheers, Kel.
