Just got done reading KGB's post on Dear Jim. Great post by a great flier.
It reminds me of all the complainers in this great hobby of ours. We have the local club members who complains all the time why this and that isn't done right. Yet, when asked to do so, they will make up a excuse to why they can't do it themselves.
You have the internet groupies that visit the Roller Sites like the Roller-Pigeon or NBRC or World Cup etc. who complains why it isn't up dated fast enough. Then when asked to be the Web Director, they fall silent to the request.
You know what, every one takes pride in what they do and what they have. It takes alot of work and dedication to makes things happen in this favorite hobby of ours. Many people (mostly back yard fliers) think they know this but have not yet known it unless they actually step up themselves.
Like it or not, we can say all way want but when it comes down to it, most guys fall silent. The guys that don't need to be praise for the great jobs they are doing for the hobby. With out them, we wouldn't have the quality we have now.
Take it from a guy that puts out a personal website and edits/compiles/print out Club bulletins/newsletter. It is harder then it looks. It takes up more time then one care to admitt.
Don't complain that you don't fly because of the rules Jim. That is BS and you know it. One choose not to fly either because they don't have enough birds or they have fell prey to pigeon thieves too many times or they don't have the quality to put them up.
I can't believe how many complainers there is in this hobby but that is what this hobby is all about. This hobby is a great hobby, even with all the complainers.
I like to hear every one's opinion about their experience but come on. Go do it before you start yepping about what is wrong. Veterans competition fliers are the first on my list for answers to my questions. It should be so for everyone if you asked me. These guys have put in the time and deserve every little bit of the respect they have earned.
Gotta love this hobby - just some thing to think about, Thor
P.S. Man, this hawk needs to pass so I can fly my birds again. I am spending to much time reading all these complainers posts. grin

Thor, very good post. You hit the nail on the head. I used to fly with a guy that would always complain first and then would always say i wont do it when we were looking for someone to run our local fly area. The last year he flew with us he wouldn't even go to other guys houses and a couple of times we went to his house and he wouldnt fly. Really turned out to be not fun to fly with. I am just glad that all the good fliers outweigh the bad ones. Kevin
