Just a word of advice to people starting out and buying birds. There are a lot of guys out there that will sell you birds using a certain breeders name and saying oh ya they are from so and so's family when actually they aren't or they are culls. I met a guy in a city close to my home who was giving his culls away to a guy who was then selling the birds as top rollers . The truth was the breeder thought they were headed for soup but this fellow had other thoughts. It seemed legitimate because the birds were banded with the name on the band. novice guys bought them thinking they were stiff and would get better. They never did. All of my birds have bands with my name on them. If they become a cull I cut the band off. This way some crook isn't using my name and misunderstandings shouldn't happen. C.J.

Man, that is nasty and underhanded. The nerve of some people. Sorry that happened and is happening.

I don't want to sound mean but that is the breeders fault. Letting any cull leave his loft is his own fault. Not the fellow recieving the birds. If any fellow scores birds - regardless if any money was exchanged, it is his own right to do what he fits. Prime example of why not to let any culls leave your place with their head still screwed on. Just my take, Thor

This is just a reminder that people just starting out need to ask for help when pivking new birds or actually research about rollers really well before they buy. I have had people come into my yard and get all exited by culls that roll once or twice then become offended when I won't sell them. I try explain they are fosters. But in the end I would rather have them a little upset then the birds leaving and ruining my name. My point was some people on here say oh I flew so and so's birds and they sucked, just make sure the birds you purchased came directly from that breeder and were meant for flying not food. If birds are bought from a secomd or third party be careful when calling the original breeder down. I have also seen where people have said they were a big name but there was no band to prove it then steer clear. If he breeder didn't leave the band on then there was a reason. Most people care about their name. After all if your name is tarnished what do you have. C.J.

In reality this could happen to anyone. You could take a bird banded or not and spin a story. Some people say anything while others believe anything.
