I had my first rolldown/bouncer of the season, bunged up a leg. Two month old chick was looking good and he lost the bottom. Bounced thru a tree, wasn`t pretty. The leg doesn`t appear to be broken, just bruised. He has an ankle sprain. A bruise where the nexus of his foot is and a little tenderness up a liitle higher on the thigh.
His brother hit the ground twice. I fed him up and got him flying and never had another minutes trouble from him. I guess they need more seed than I am used to. These are from a new pair of breeders I got this winter.

Kenny,

I hate to disappoint you, but they are culls. You will find out soon enough that you were just kind and softhearted to them.

Kenny,
If a bird is rolling at the 2 or 3 month stage, thats a RED FLAG in my loft. There might of been something ate or drank that overwelmed it,but bottom line its instability.More likely your breeders bred a HOT bird.Theres a certain look they have that you can pick out in time.If you have a picture, can you post it??Kenny, you might have to look to switching the pairs to see which parent is passing on this fault. If its one family crossed to another[like a best to best],theres just to much heat in the cross, you may get some good ones, probably just average at best, but they will carry the bad trait...Aloha,Todd

J,
He started spinning little spins right off the bat.I have had birds do that before too with no problems.

The brother was from a late round last season. He has been golden since. Med velocity smooth roll and has a multi depth now. Usually in the 30 foot range. Just need a bit of TLC. It was advised by the breeder to break the pair up and see what he could do with my hens.

I am going to breed the cockbird to three hens I have that are mother/daughters. She is pretty much what I want in a bird. 20 footer with style, frequency is a tiny slow. The daughters are great just a little slow like the mom, but hoooweee they can turn it on. I feel this could be a profitable mating.
