I just heard, seen, that you can tell a cock from a hen by hanging a magnet with a string from its back. If the magnet goes back and forth it is a cock and if it goes around and around it is a hen.
Is this a myth or is there some truth to this?
Just something that I seen

Is it any magnet or just a special kind? I will give it a try b4 I say anything negative about it. I've seen it for sale @ Foy's and Jedd's but never given it a second thought. I thought it is a crock because what is the magnatic field that the cock bird sends to this magnet to make it swing? It did not make any sense to me, but will give it a try.

Here`s one, Shine a light in the birds eye. If the pupil "bounces" it is a hen. If it doesn`t then it isn`t a hen.

Zilla, I had someone try it on a couple birds and indicated they were both cocks. Well, both cocks have layed eggs for the past couple years. LOL Save your money. Have you tried The 'smiling butt' or 'frowning butt' method?

Hi Guys; Why is it so important to find the birds sex at an early age?Do you want to know what you`r killing, when the bird turns out to be no good?If the bird turns out to be what you are trying to breed for ,what does it matter? STARFIRE Stan Arnold

I totally agree with you.......doesn't matter until one of the air birds qualifies to be a stock bird and your going to pair it up.
