Being rather new to rollers i have been observing my new half dozen birds over the last 3 months or so.five of them roll fast spins but never more than one or two spins at a time.Im not really in it for competition but the hobby really.I have noticed my one female bird spins 8 to 10 times before pulling back up .From reading here i would guess this to be a good hen but have no male of similar qualities to mate her with .Is there anyway i can get a family from her of strong rollers say from a male not so good? Any advice would be most welcomed thanks chris100 (england)

Chris;
If you can count the revolutions that the bird is doing you better look for better stock.These birds are no good.A good spinner drops at least 10 ft.up to 40ft,and you wont be able to count the revolutions Do you know what family they come from? Are they Barret or Brown family?

Hey I agree with Stan if you can count the revolutions than you are just wasting your time. Where are you located? Make sure you see the next birds you buy in the air. If you continue with these birds you are going to become overwelmed. One summersault is definitely a cull. I would consider keeping them as fosters. This would allow you to get your numbers up quickly.

I seem to have somewhat the same problem as chris. My birds are all 05. They are Hardesty/Roe, but do not seem to roll very deep.But are very fast spinners, when they roll they roll fast afew times but dont drop very much. Maybe a few feet. I feed a pigeon mix with alittle extra MILO & WHEAT added. Iam I wasting my time or is it something that I am doing or not doing right.
