It'a April 9th, and i only have one pr on eggs thus far , out of four possible prs.I am hoping that starting a tad later will beat those cold eve's where the young suffer without parents sitting on them. I had a pair of modenas in the mix , but they were pairing off seperately with rollers , so i rectified this today and seperated them to their own issolated breeding cage , so now the rollers can get down to business. I am hoping to raise about 50 birds this summer to have a good base stock so next yr will be more rewarding. Happy Breeding All.

Will these birds breed through summer too? Or just in the spring?
Thanks for the info very helpful!

They breed as long as you want them to. Give them plenty of food, breeding material and wormth in the winter and they will breed like rabbits. That doesn't mean they will breed all excellent rollers. You have to go through and cull the undesirable. You need to keep in mind the hawk season. That is from the Oct until April. You don't want to breed during that period because you can not train the offspring due to the fact is the hawk will pick them off one by one. You end up breeding to feed the shark and keep him around for company.

One addition to the breeding. They will breed as long as they are getting enough light. When the days get shorter they tend to stop. C.J.
