Hey bernie, I will say that butterfly action is when you let out your kit and at a good hiehgt they fly very slow. It looks like the way butterflys fly. Its almost as if they are not making much effort to fly. It even looks like the tips of the wings are moving slower than normal. It is completely opposite as homers fly, with big gusts of wing muscles. I find that milo for a week or so gets them flying slow and more likely to fly butterfly action. It is great for mature rollers because this slow flying will get more breaks out of them as they turn in 8 circles. Anything to get them to stall in light winds will do wonders for a kit. One guy once told me that it is in the birds to fly that way, but I find the feed and amount make the whole difference in the way they fly for me. Another way to see it is when you have seen them fly fast after a hawk spooks them and they fly with fast wing beats, So just the opposite is when they are really relaxed in the air and fly slow as if they are going to stop right in the sky, that is when you get big breaks if they are all mature and rolling good. Hope this helpss. Bill
