Nope.

A judging clinic would be a great idea and has been discussed. Problem is, chosen judges for every region are voluntary and most of us are working stiffs. Most people don't have time to go to some clinic in some part of the country, with some who are already good judges, feeling as though their viewpoint is not worthy. There are pros and cons to the concept of a judging clinic. But the bottom line whether we choose to accept it or not is that this is a subjective sport and it will always be, no matter who the judge is. I get really pissed when I see some supposed veteran calling out garbage numbers, proving that judging can be a rough and interesting job as anything will be called and the best kit with the best rollers doesn't win. It is just a sad deal. But the flyers in the regions should have a say in who judges. If they want loose judges, they will select those types. If they want tight judging, they will select those who lean that way. That is the reality of how it works.
The finals judge is generally the person who won the event the year before. If not him, then the second place person, etc. If you can fly a killer kit to win the national or international fly, chances are you don't need a lecturing on how to judge a kit.
Brian.
