I would like to hear from anyone that is having success with a mobile Roller Loft. I'm interested in building one to take around to schools and nursing homes and other places where people would not normally be able to experience the joy of watching Rollers perform. Any info or advice would be appreciated. pal@alltel.net
Flying Mobile is without a doubt a challenge. I'm not sure you can be competitive with others who fly from a set location. But it sure is fun flying from different locations. The location you choose to fly from is all important. The birds have to be able to see their kit box from all directions. The best location is in the middle of a large field with no obstructions. By choosing a poor location where the birds can't see their kit box may lead to disaster. When flying from a mobile loft the birds are trained to home to the "loft" and not a location. Rollers will naturally home to a location. Move the kit box even a few feet and watch the birds hover over the its former location. Rollers are trained to the mobile loft by flying them in different locations so they don't associate a location as home but rather associate the mobile loft as home wherever it is located. They have to use their eyes to find home.

Very nice loft............my birds could probably handle this, but I don't think I would be smart enough to.....my birds have the character; I don't(LOL)
