I am sure this has been stated on an earlier post but I cant find it.I believe that some use borax in their birds bath water.--how much? and does anyone know if borax is acidic or is it alkaline? The reason I ask is many use ACV in there water and try to keep the birds crops on the acidic side seeing that many diseases dont prefer the acidic environment.but if borax is alkaline--and the birds bathe and drink the water wont that work against what they have already done?I dont really know thats why I am asking. Also some use Ivomec-drench in bath water-How much?Does anybody use anything else? if so what?does anybody just use plain water?Does anybody NEVER give their birds baths?I am just wondering what the benifts are for the birds-or is it more for the fancers enjoyment to watch his/her birds take bath?Me--I take one once a month whether I need it or not!LOL!JUST kidding --my wife would throw me out.Its hard enough to get in the house without her inspection for pigeon crap somewhere on my person.Lol Thanks Fr.mike

I use bath salt from Foy's. I have two kinds 'Natural Badzout Bath Salt' and 'Foy's Bath Salt'. They work good. I use one tblspoon per bath pan of water.
Yes, the birds need their bath at least once a week. The feather dust would start to bother them if they don't wash it out. You will see the bath water turn into milky color after they take their path. It is healthy for them.

I use both Foy's bath salts and Borax (grocery store). I alternate them week to week and give them a bath once per week. It helps keep the feather dust down and (especially the borax) will control feather mites. I use these products religiously and never have feather mites or lice. I use one tablespoon per gallon of water in the bath pan. The birds love it! I give my birds ACV as well. Don't worry about the acidity. If you keep water before them they will drink little if any of the bath water. If they do once per week it won't be a problem.

Yes Mike, I always put Ivomec in the bath water. About two caps before adding the water. I also add a splash of ACV and a cap full of Permectrin II. Brian.

OK I gave them the bath and they didnt touch it- they just looked at it from the fly pen.I left it for about five hours-no dice! I guess it will take a few more times for them to get used to it. Fr, mike

Yeah, mine love a bath!!Pan is 18 inches across and 4 or 5 birds squeeze in there and flap around at a time.you can see alot of the dust just like talcum powder on top of the water afterwards.Just keep putting the bath in there ,they'll get used to it takes a while same as a new water fount they wont touch it till I take the old one out if its a different shape than what they are used to. My 4 littlest squeaks got into the action the other day. 4 weeks old. They were on the roof of their kitbox when I put the pan in the A team exercise pen. I placed a small lawn sprinkler over it so they get the rain effect. As it fills the birds get into it and get a good bath.
The squeaks were watching and started easing over to the pen.I turned the sprinkler over so they could get under it. one of them started doing the wing thing and was only getting 2-3 drops of water on him. He scooted over a bit at a time slowly getting wetter, next thing I know he is flopping on his back right next to the sprinkler and the other three are doing the wing thing from a slightly more sensible distance while still gettting a bath.I think the learned how in 10 minutes watching the older birds.

How much borax should be used in a gallon of bath water, & is it safe for the young and adults birds to drink while they take baths?
