There is always something wierd that happens!Today I went into my loft to band a half a dozen babys and I pulled one out to band it and noticed a feather stuck to Its foot--so I pulled it off and went to band it and noticed its back toe was red--on closer examination I found that the feather that was stuck to its foot was actully wraped around the toe and had cut off the blood supply. The toe is dead-dried up-I hope it will be able to stand on a perch with his stub LOL !Just plain weird ! Fr.Mike

Hens seem to do better than the cocks if they lose a foot for whatever reason. I had a cock that lost a leg and he could not mate...he would fall off the hen. The hens just have to squat down...I ended up culling the cock...because he would just plain get beaten up...I mean his ass whooped constantly. So he had to go.
