Perfect Drift, do a search on this website to get alot of answers to the questions you have asked. To answer your questions, yes you have to train young birds where their home is. You do this by giving them a chance to look around where they live. They pick out unique landmarks that they will associate with home. The best time to start this training is before young birds start flying. Old birds can be taught within about two weeks but there are never any guarantees that they will learn. Like I said do a search and you will find techniques that alot of folks have successfully used.
