I had a thought to day as my oldest daughter impressed the hell out of her little friend she brought home from school. We have as many kid flyers in this area as old guy flyers. One kid in New Mexico,Sam aged 6,placed sixth/14 in his region.
Then Mason is the grandson of the guy I got my birds from he is pretty good with the birds and is all of 12.

My daughter, Kate 10, is working on getting her kit together. Her last two chicks hatched last week. She has two pet birds that will fly down to her. The stories will be flying at school tomorrow.I have her keeping a journal. Once I explained that she was writing the story of her birds and she could go back and use her book as reference, she was on it.

My fifteen year old daughter is the same way.
She takes it upon herself to nurse any young ailing birds back to health. She has in the past hand raised as many as four birds at one time from a couple of days old on.
She can also determine the colours of the young before most vetern guys,

Daddys and thier little girls.....there is a bond that will last forever. I have two daughters and I am treated like a king between them and my wife and I am so thankful for it. I ain't worth a damn to anyone else, but I feel like a million bucks when I am in the midst of my ladies. For that I owe them everything.

Didn't have any boys and I have never regreted it.

Daddys and daughters-funny how that goes. My son and I have always had to work at finding a common ground. Our interests have just never been the same. My daughter on the other hand has always been my buddy (except for the puberty years when we wanted to kill one another-my wife says its because we are too much alike.) Training dogs, field trials, fishing- she was always there. With my grandchildren there is pretty much an even playing ground. They all think that I am somewhat weird but a heck of a lot of fun. As my oldest grandson says "None of my friends have a grandfather like Pa." Ain't it sweet. Family-nothing better.
Geo.

I wrote this 2 years ago on another site and it is still true. I may never find the pigeon hater my wife used to be.

I think my wife as been abuducted by aliens.
It all began last evening when we we`re talking. She started a conversation about pigeons and related subjects. At this point I began to have a nagging concern in the back of my mind. I was on the computer surfing pigeon articles. I was tired, and decide it was time for a shower. When I came back to the room, my wife had taken up surfing where I had left off and was telling me to make sure i had the right mixture of wheat in the feed. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. I knew something was amiss.

Later as we lie in bed, I was weighing the prospect of have in my head ripped off by an alien love mistress, then it came to me, the final piece fell in place. I knew my wife had been abducted by aliens. She got up on one elbow looked at me and said" I think that you need to pair up the red hen to the red bar cock. I really think they would make some good flyers."

I knew then my wife had been abducted by aliens.
Is there a website where I can find some help?

This is based on a true story only the names have been changed to protect the guilty.

My Wife has been feeding my rollers since last october , due to my lungs not alowing me to be out in the colder weather. She feeds them every morning , breaking the ice out of the water dish when neccessary, and never once complained.I am getting out more now to the coop, as the weather has improved, but she is still doing her part to keep things afloat.
She comes in and tells me of new hatchlings, and that the older squeeks are brave and pop their beaks at her, and seems to get quite a kick out of it. She's been a life saver for sure. The breeder i got the birds from early last yr called the other day to tell her he would be more than happy to come and take the birds, as he felt she should not have to be doing this, and it may be to much for her. She reared back and said look , i don't mind doing this for greg, and as long as he wants these birds around , i will continue to help him look after things, but if their comes a time when he says to me he's had enough, you'll be the first one i call. Gotta love her.

My oldest son has said he wants to get into raising pigeons but his fiance won't let him.I'm getting a couple of pairs of pure white racers young to release at their wedding in August,so hoping maybe when she sees the beauty of these birds taking off, she'll change her mind(about birds that is).Hey Vibey. You have one sweet wife, for true!To your health.

Great poem Kate!!!I like it!
Well, they do live in a cabin on her Mom's place and he only pays $250 a month and yeah she's a sweety. We'll just have to kinda slide some birds into that old empty chickencoop they have, one of these days AFTER the wedding.Had a band-tailed pigeon and a mourning dove land in our yard today. No hawks thank god.

Hi guys. It's nice to have a post on the lighter side.It put a smile on my face.I especially liked V99's post about his wife being a alien. She sounds like she has a good sense of humor. It's really great to hear of young people getting into pigeons.Sometimes it gets depressing at club meetings looking around at some old buzzards, myself included, and wonder how long this great hobby will continue. Some of the best times in my life have been centered around pigeons.Let's get the youngsters involved. Some advice to V99,when the Mrs acts up just look upward and say "Beam her up Scotty".
John
