Jord, what's going on ther could be a numbers of things that could have created this issue, being under condition is a cause,a little over medication,to dark of a kit box,or it could be that a family line come in late, I have seen all these factors take place, I'm not saying this is in your case it's just something for you to observe and investigate and resolve this issue..............GOOD LUCK................RICHARD LUNA..............

maybe your birds have a rolldown line... did they roll too much and hit the houses and stuff?

I happened to have the same problem too. I let my birds out and they kit close and well, fly them for 6-7 month, no problem onlt see them doing 1-5 spin. One day one of the bird just went straight up 60ft. and did 1-5 spin like usual then he connect all them and went bam? Tried him again couple days later and did the same again. I considered him a rolldown. But i'm still confuse that this bird flew 6-7 month straight no problem and then went down on bam. Rolldowns.

Well, what are you feeding your birds for the past week or so? How much? And how often do you feed them? Do you change their feed (type of grains) from one day to the other? How often do you fly them and when (morning, afternoon or evening)? What is the temperature in your area? All these are factors….
Sometimes need to ask yourself what changes have I made in the week before might effected the birds? Allot of times it is the change of the feed, the amounts or the protein make up of the grain such as more oily or more carbohydrate or more protein that will cause the radical behavior.
I found, through experimenting that when the protein content in the feed is too high, the birds tend to fly lower and they will continue spinning even when close to the ground. When the feed content is high in oily seeds, it will make the birds more exited and cause them to spin prematurely upon release or landing and become over active in the air. The proper way is to have just the right amount of feed with the proper content of oil, carbs and protein in certain times of flying the birds. This could change from week to week or month to month.
Also, if you fly the birds extra hungry that tends to cause them not to fly high and long enough and cause a strange behavior due to some young birds cannot handle it. Remember that smaller seeds will get digested faster than bigger seed. Also pellets tend to be digested much faster than regular grain due to the fact it is processed food. So, you might think you are flying your birds on a 22 to 24 hours feed schedule but due to the seeds being digested quicker, the birds are flying extremely hungry.
If that is not the case, usually rollers will come to the good spinning in about 6 to 7 months and maybe a little earlier. Always and I use it as a general rule, when you have a young roller that was doing 5 feet for some times and all of sudden doing 20 to 30 feet, this is a rolldown in the making and sooner or latter you will find out that it is just a dead roller flying.
