Has anyone ever had a bird that didn't seem to know how to fly? This bird has been weaned about 2 weeks and in the kit box for one week. All my other birds of this group already know how to fly and will fly, (even one bird that's younger than this one). This bird, doesn't even seem to know how. Even when I throw it up in the air about six feet off the ground, it spreads its wings but doesn't really flap them and glides just enough not to hit the grass too hard. Everytime I open the kit box or when this bird was in the weaning pen, it is always sitting on the ground as if it doesn't even like to stand up. Oddest thing I've seen. It eats and drinks just fine. Anyone?

might be a parlor roller that is scared to roll, but then again it flaps it's wings, parlors tend to do rolldowns if you throw them, maybe he broke his wing without you knowing it, or he might just be afraid of heights, just try putting him ontop of your loft until he gets used to it or something, just check him, he might have a broken wing..

Examine your pigeon carefully. Not all pigeons grow in their feather at the same rate. Some feather out and are ready to wean and get along on their own at an earlier age than others. If the feather is all grown in and his tail is as long as the others, its likely he is damaged in some way. Vision may be grossly deficient or his coordination is bad, like a spastic. Watch him eat. Is he slow to peck the grains? Does he miss some? Some pigeons get a light dose of paratyphoid so that their neck doesn't twist but their head remains kind of wobbly-dizzy, like many blind people (Stevie Wonder). Either way its a cull. Kevin
