Flew my new kit of 12 birds twice between thursday and sunday morning and lost 2 to I think for sure it was a Coopers Hawk.S.O.B.I'm going to give them a rest a couple of days then try flying them just before dark and see how they make out.Good thing I took 3 pair of breeders out before I flew them! ---------- Kellinos

Hello Kellinos,
Where do you live? because I have not seen one hawk since late March 2006. However, I do expect them back right around early or mid-September. And, I don't fly my birds after 11:00 am so maybe its the time you are flying the birds? Maybe?

Hi there Planet Rock!! I live on Gabriola Island, one of the gulf Islands off Vancouver Island in B.C.Canada.I flew at 6:15 this morning,7:00 the other day.Saw the pred come from the trees and break up the kit as they were circling in to land, grab one and just turn around and head back for the trees. No problem carrying it,and no aerial attack like a Peregrine would make.---------- Kellinos

you guys I have the same problem, these hawks are getting annoying killing my birds, I mean I know they have to eat but why my birds... I want to kill these damn things but that's bad for the environment, that means more rats will polute... I don't know what to do either..

Coopers don't eat rats, only birds. I found the best way is to lock up from Oct to March. Other than that save you best for later.

Jay, you are right. Copper & sharp shinned hawks only love to eat pigeons specially ROLLERS. LOL.
