i'm a first timer, and i waited til they jumped down themselves, and i feel they got too mature before putting them in the kit box, started off with 7 and now have 3, they seemed too wild when i opened the door, i lost a few, they seem like they dont know me, is there trick to getting them to bond to you... brian

Brain--did you trap train them?--that is get them alittle on the hungry side and put them on the landing board with your hands over them and get them going threw the bobs a few days in a row.(there are alot of other ways to do this-just the way I find easy)-then I put them in a cage on top the kitbox a few days-I then set them on the kitbox roof and leave them be.remember they must be hungry or they will go up and have no motivation to come down--being their first flight they wont know what to do and they its easy for them to just get lost.make sure they are hungry--once they go threw the trap a few days in a row and It klicks in there head that going threw the trap relieves their hunger you can boost the feed back up over the next few days.hope this helps. Fr.Mike BTW--I do one bird at a time when I first start them--their first time in the kitbox is thew the bobs--so they dont know anything else

Brain ,
Page ten "how and when to wean" In all actuality there are probably ten pages on weaning . Spend an hour surfing the archives for ton and tons of conversations.
