A recent thread,"Ultimate Depth pt2" mentioned wing switching.Could someone give me a good description of it and will birds outgrow it? Is this a genetic factor and should the bird be culled?

Aieredale,,Good Morning, hope you could picture this or remember a bird doing it in the air. your birds are flying and decide to roll together, , they all started right, nice, clean and straight for about 20'but you notice one that is a little deeper and you see some what like fluttering or swithing from sides, its no longer clean and smooth and straight..It's what we call a dish rag, throw it in the air,(the rag) watch it fall, it wipes the air , thats what the wing swither does..... This bird is not desired and condsidered (trash).I have seen some straighten them selfs out but these birds should not be stocked either, these bird have some fault lack of mind, muscling and some back problem.....I hope that gave some sort of site.........R-LUNA

A bird that is in the roll changes sides or directions. Some can start off great but change directions and then get back into it again. Most of the time it is most visible in a bird that has some depth. Never,Never breed from these pigeons.

Rich, that is an excellent description of wing switching that as a beginner I can understand. I have been trying to grasp what to look for and now I think I've got it. Really appreciate it when great advice/descriptions are given. Thanks. Steve

Guys, thats pretty much it. wing switchers are junk. The way i describe it is that on a good rolling pigeon the wings are stroking together at the same time. when they get off on the timing there for they are not stroking together ate the same time. The wings are switching therefore messing up the roll. Kevin
