Good call on tossing one young bird with the kit at a time - at least today. The young bird didn't fly the whole time and did trap about 25 minutes after the rest of the kit but at least he trapped. Without his buddies to hang out with he felt lost and wanted to get back in the kit box. I did let him eat for a couple minutes but not as much as everyone else. I wanted to reward him for going in but I wanted him not to get his fill also for trapping so slowly. Hopefully he'll start picking it up and figuring out what's going on. In the meantime, I have three others to teach the same lesson to. His nest mate, who took off yesterday, showed up tonight, over 24 hours later, he never did trap. I caught him in the net and fed him through the trap just a few minutes ago. Thanks again for the advice.

Different day, different bird, same result only a little better. Today's young bird that got to fly flew with the kit fairly decently for quite awhile before coming down about 10 minutes before the kit did. Again, the young bird trapped last but within about 10 minutes of the rest of the birds trapping. So far improvement with 2 of the 4 birds. We'll see how the next 2 do. Again, thanks for the guidance. In your opinion, how many times should these four birds be let out one at a time like I'm doing now before I release them all at the same time with the regular kit? Thanks!

Darin,
I would do what you are doing until you try all 4 birds seprately....If you find the one bird that is a retard...you can either eliminate that one bird and try the other three together....or...if they all do ok...once you have flown each bird you can then let one bird go and get him flying...then release the rest of the kit...minus the other slow birds....then as soon as the young bird you released first gets together with the main kit....(should be in a timely matter...go ahead and let the next bird go...(hand toss like a football)LOL! see if the two stay with the kit.....if they do....then the next day..release the second bird first and then let the rest of the kit out with the first bird you released the day before...and once the kit is all together...then release the 3rd bird just like the day before....and then the fourth bird...once the third bird is kitting....then the next time release them all together again and see what happens. I would for sure...eliminate the bird that is the problem bird..if you find out which bird that is.....No need to play around with a problem bird....always keep in your mind...that a problem bird just pisses you off....effects the whole kit and that perch can be used for a future bird that can hold it together....keep me updated.
