I believe most kits are in judgement for atleast 20min. so as long as your birds don't go under that you should be good.

Kell, there is no "ideal". The rules state the birds are judgement for 20 mins, with a minimum fly time of 15 minutes. Many will tell you that when their kits are on point and scoring well, they will fly for an hour after people have left.

Kell,
One to one and a half hours is probably about right. The trick is getting the best performance out of them right off the bat. That why it is important to have them "tuned" when you let them out. The most important ten minutes is the first ten minutes of your judgement.

The first five they will come out of the box, hopefully not bump, and get it together. During this five minutes you`re watching them waiting for just the right time to call time in just before the first big break.

The second five minutes is when you are most vulnerable to outbirds and interference. After the warmup is when the "problem birds" will always always do something stupid. You can count on it. If you have a doubt at all about a bird, pull it,period. Don`t ever question your decision, don`t put another bird in,just fly them short and hope for the best. You know as the manager you did the right thing.

The last ten is pretty much a reflection of the first ten good or bad.
good luck

Hey Guys,
Thanks for that.My kit is flying 20 25 minutes after only a few unmolested flies.Been feeding mostly straight wheat(milo on order). How do you suggest I coax them to fly longer?Or should I just let them settle more?

How old are these birds? I have to ask since you mentioned settling. As young birds mature and after routine flying, they will naturally fly longer and longer provided they are receiving adequate nutrition. Never, and let me repeat this, NEVER mess with really young roller's feed. Just feed them and let them do their thing for a few months. Once they are out of the full body molt, then you can start changing up feed and altering stuff. Most of the time when a kit of young rollers are flying short, they are playing tricks on you. Let them land, then flag them back up. Most of the time they will fly twice as long as they did before. Unless of course, you've been messing with their feed..lol

I was given these Neible bloodline birds which are all 05 's except one is jan 06 and one march.I'm worried the real young ones aren't getting enough as I'm feeding the kit only wheat.I know I need another kitbox for the young ones, because shouldn't they be getting a mixed feed?----------

Yah, the '06 bird definitely needs more feed. Just pull the young one, or any other young ones out and feed them on the side. The others are much older so they should be putting in some fly time. If they haven't flown in a while, or ever, it will take them some time to get into shape. Once they are in shape, you will see them fly longer.
