I have been reading this site and there seems to be a lot of knowledge out there. I am still fairly new to raising pigeons and have learned alot. I am into my first breeding season and I would like to ask a few questions.
I have several pairs that are raising young ones now ,they seem to prefer oyster shell and seem to want it all the time. My question is. Is it okay for them to eat it all the time with the grit? they are on a high protein pigeon mix. It seems that when I go to feed them they wait for the oyster shells. Would appreciate any and all advice! thank you, mark

Hi Mark, Definately feed your breeders oyster shell. One thing it is good for is helping to form the shell of their eggs and make the shell strong. It gives them calcium to strengthen their bones, and I think it helps to grind their food as well.My birds(especially the breeders)go for it like candy. Good luck, Kelly.

Try some pick stone too. They will consume more pick stone than grit/oyster shell while feeding young birds.......good luck!

Parlor, The smaller ones are best raw(slide right down without chewing)but keep to harvesting during months with r in them or you could end up with PSP. ---------- Kellinos
