I've got some young birds just starting ta roll... or something like it... they come down in a spiraling, cork-screw type roll... is that early stages of rolling or a type of roll? It looks kinda neat, they drop 20 or so feet while doing it. Mark

Sounds like something Doneks do.

It's an ancient performing breed that dives and will spin like a propeller. Here is a link to more info on them: http://www.turkishtumblers.com/Donek.htm

Doneks are fun to watch... aren't they. Darn if I could ever get the one I had in the past to fly high enough. Very fun to watch but wouldn't have anything else but the Birmingham Roller. Thor

Mark, Young birds do all kinds of goofy stuff as they are coming into the roll. Most of them will work through it and start rolling. My first round young birds are in this stage right now as well. Keith

Every day more & more of my birds are rolling & today all my birds flew together ( 38 ) as a kit, I usually have 4 or 5 flying alone but they flew together for 30 minutes or longer ( I let em out real early while it was still cool ). It's hard ta tell but it looks like 1/2 or more are rolling at varing depths & they look cool when they stall out into a head wind and and start dropping all together.
All my birds are supposed to be Birminghams... I only have birds from 2 old timers ( & they swap birds )... mostly Taylor blood. Mark
