Have you guys ever had, no no, let me start over. We all have had a bird or two that once consumed our imgination as "the best roller" "it" "the bomb" you know it. The bird that we thought was superior above all average birds in the kit, breederloft--meaning it can duplicate itself in the breeding pen. Then we loose it for one reason or another and a few years or months down the line, we didn't think much of it. Then suddenly, we realized that the bird we lost was the most important key bird that we had ever had. Man that's a bad feeling!
I have two cocks: NCRC#19 (blackself) and HFRF#291.(rec red) Oh lucky me. #19 is lost forever, cats got him. But 291 is still alive and at this moment I am trying to get him back. He was the fastest 30footer I have ever seen. Bred by Dave Henderson. The gods must have heard me LOL. thong

Thong,
I know what you're talking about. I left a bird in the kitbox too long and it was hawked out. I have given out the best breeder cock I ever had and when I finally asked for it back that person had sold it to parts unknown.
Life goes on though, but I have learned from it.

There have been times in the past when I've looked at a bird in the kit with admiration, only to see a hawk swoop down and grab it right before my eyes and then fly off to the nearset tree to have dinner. I try not to get emotionally attached to any bird in my kits today because of that. A BIT GUNSHY!!! Richard Apodaca
