At what wind speed do you draw the line to fly your birds. I have been flying mine on days when the wind has been up and find since the birds are fairly strong they have held their own and have only once lost birds to the wind (my error). I do not fly on days the wind has the trees bent over but do on days the tree tops are just starting to sway from the wind. I should note that I fly on the windy days just to exercise the birds. They do roll decent enough but not as good as a quieter day.

About 15 MPH is the max wind I'll fly my birds in,but that is pushing my luck for sure.10mph is better. ---------- Kelly

It is the gusting winds that seem to be the most problemic. But, generally 15 to 20 mph is putting it close to shutting down the day(especially if there is gusts involved). You also have to have an awareness of what is happening at 300 to 600 feet up. It may be a little different up there in relationship of what is occurring at ground level.
I have lost some birds to the weather and I still do, especially out here in the cotton fields of eastern Arkansas....it is like living on a lake; nothing slows the wind down. It is surprisingly windy here.

Being from the Texas Panhandle I lose more days to wind than any other reason. I draw the line at 15-20 with gusts of 25. My birds have a pretty small fly pattern the wind actually aids them in the breaks, especially when it has been calm for a day or two. I get the best breaks with a 10 - 12 mph breeze ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly. It`s a comp thing, understand?
