Hi guys,
I started breeding with 2 pairs of BRs in March then added 3 more pairs to the breeding loft in May.Being eager to have more birds to fly,I didn't pay attention to making sure they were all laying on the same cycle to hatch out at the same time and go into the weaning kitbox at the same time.Didn't use fosters or any of that stuff.Man,,,now I have birds of several different stages of developement, and trying to train them.A bit of a pain.Glad I got that book from you Tony so as to understand the why's and why not's of roller breeding. If a guy can start training a kit of 20 or 25 squeakers, all born within a few days of each other,thats\'s the way to go!!!!!!!There's always next year EH!?
Salud a las Palomas,
Kel.

Now the real work and fun begins. Some days you will be a proud father and on other days you'll want to cull them all(LOL)

Kell,
The hardest thing for me to do was to throw away a perfectly good pair of eggs. Being where you are not long ago. I was desperate for each egg and chick I could muster.A kit at a time is preferrable but it usually takes an experienced breeder to make it happen. Getting ten pairs on track and spitting em out with in a few days of one another is a pretty mean feat in of itself.I have been trying for two years now and the most I have gotten at "once" was 10. I have 8 now on the floor varying 10 days-two weeks in age.
Still having birds of different ages ain`t that bad. I kinda like training four or five at a time. Main thing is to keep pumping them out. Rmember 1 in 4 might be a keeper.
good luck

If they don`t kit,they don`t score.
Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly.
It`s a comp thing,understand?

Hey Kel, I am glad you liked "True Spinning Rollers II", it is by far the best detailed book and most informative book on the roller pigeon.

If you don't have a copy of this 256 page book, you need to get one here: "True Spinning Rollers II" by David Kowalski. The cost is $24.95 and is a must have book for your library.

My birds stagger quit a bit and never do I have 20 -25 all wthin a few days ,that would be great but just doesn't happen like that around here, expecialy breeding 6-9 pair tops due to just honing around my best and not so concerned about just filling kitboxes.
Mine will stagger within of 2-3 weeks from the oldest to youngest.
Once I have 14-15 plus I put em out, then start the other kit , Once they are also on the wing for a few weeks or more I will move the stronger one's up to the older kit and replace them from the stronger one's from the next younger kit as long as they are well on the wing.
I just keep doing this until the kits are complete with 20-22 birds .

Just to say "amen" to Tony's post about True Rolling Spinners II. I bought the book from Tony and have just finished reading it through twice. Great book! Very logical which I appreciate. It has much of the same info. as #1, but enough new information to make it worth owning the second volume as well.
