I have been losing a number of young birds, the inexperienced ones, to coopers lately. Since I have the room I decided to keep a small kit of bummers, roll downs, non rollers etc to fly first and let the hawks have a try at those first and if they make it through the flack I throw up then the hawk gets em.

Then they will never leave alone again. They will know there is an easy dinner for them.

If your talking about resident hawks then Jays right. If your talking about migrating hawks just passing thru, your method could work. Kevin

I would rather they take and bummer than my birds from number one kit. They are residents and fly over all the time an d hover above waiting for their chance. If I have to sacrifice something it will be a non roller and if I get the chance to improve my skills so be it.

Hey, to let you know sometimes you may throw out your culls but there is no guarentee that the hawk will come at that moment, from experience i have tossed out culls and no bird of prey , then i would toss out the better kits and BAM the puto is here (i got mail) man it is just the luck of the draw...GOOD LUCK.....
