Hello Everybody,
I have met a few people who raise rollers and they seem to be and usually are genuine and honesty people. However, I do want to make a point about honesty and ethics especially in the roller sport.
Please, please, please don't ever BS anybody about your birds be honest if you are selling them. And by all means don't gangster somebody out of a few dollars. exp, shipping boxes. If you charge them for a new one don't send the birds in a beat up old falling apart box.
I received some birds and the box looks like it was used about 5 or 6 times. If you charge someone for a new box get a new box don't be sheisty. The roller pigeon sport is just about the last honest thing on earth, don't ruin it with greed, lies, thievery, deception, dishonesty and ill-gotten gains.
Lets keep something honest.
Thank You

Hey Planet, sounds like you were stung pretty good. A breeder who takes his program seriously will be honest about the birds and provide the best quality possible, that includes brand new boxes. Some of us take our reputation seriously.
Hope next time you have a better experience! ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

I shipped a few birds around this spring. I didn`t charge for the boxes, I had a couple of older boxes used once or twice. No charge for the box.I did it to save the other fancier a few bux and some time. When I did "send" a box to another fancier when I bought birds I did expect a new box to be sent to me and wasn`t dissappointed. Use the golden rule my brothers.
---------- If they don`t kit,they don`t score. Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly. It`s a comp thing,understand?

I think that the biggest problem isn't someone purposely B.S others, it is more of them B.S. themselves and that in turn gets passed on. I'm seeing a rash of obvious stone cold rolldowns being sold off another site , it is too bad , at least you should know a little about these birds before you start selling them.

Motherlode, Tony everybody I agree,
The person who sold me these birds is a frequent vistor in the chatroom. I don't want to put them on the spot. It's not a big deal to me dollar wise, but not to be a soapbox just our whole society is going to "hell with gasoline drenched draws." I just look at my birds as a way to escape all the negative things and get back to the positive things. It just bugged me when I saw that because it was unnecessary. Thanks guys I appreciate you understanding my gripe.
Thanks

SMK,
Out of respect for Mr. Chavarria and his operation and plus its just not my style I will not post negative info. about this person. My only goal was to make sure that each one of us on here treat each other with civility. The answers to my questions and the help I get on here is worth way more than what the shipping box costs. Oh well .... you know the rest .... keep it positive and those rollers spinning.
Thank You for your understanding.

Planet,
I agree with you 100%...If you charge somebody for a new box..you get a new box....I have sent birds in a box that was used a couple of times...I never charged them...I just told them to ship the box back to me when they are done....and they did. I feel that it is good to get as many uses out of a box as you can...just for the sake of...why not use something that is still good....but never charge for it...just tell the fancier to ship it back to you when they are done....I agree that you have to be honest in this sport...the first time you sting somebody....you will be know for your stinger....

LOL...my wife trained me...LOL!! I had a box that Tony shipped birds to me from Los Angeles to Sacramento....Then the box went from Sacramento to Ohio..then Ohio To Sacramento...then Ohio again and back to Sacramento..then it went to Pittsburgh PA..Sorry you had to drive J_star...then J_star shipped it back then it went to Utah from Sacramento then Back to Sacramento from Utah...Then it went back to Back to Tony in MO. then back to me then it went to Ohio again and that is where it was layed to rest...Visala Outlaw was so happy to get birds that he opened it like a christms wrapping...Just Kidding...It finally tore and I taped it the last time....LOL So that box had some miles on it and was 10 deep in postage stickers...LOL!! I just figured that it is not that much to ship it back empty regular mail...it took about a week to get from Ohio to my place...Tony shipped it back priority..so it was like 3 days...and it was back in 3 from Utah....my wife was so proud of me...LOL!!

Paul. I told my people to just pass it on. Save a tree and mailing costs lol. My line of thinking is on the boring days it could possibly motivate one to involve another in the sport.Just a little ol box sitting there empty crying for somewhere to go. ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. Planet - If, in your gut, you feel that you have been had with little things what about the birds? If you are unhappy and the individual is honest send them back. If He or she starts to hee and haw then you know that they are not honest. A true fancier always wants individuals to be content with their birds because it is a reflection on them.

Hey Guys, To be honest, I find the box thing kind of funny.. I have shipped birds out in a box that was used before.. A couple times that I can think of.. I have sold birds and the guy sends the money and say's he will ship me a box also.. Money comes, but no box, Yet. I guess I should have waited a week on the box but since I had a box I sent the birds.. I figured the guy would rather have his birds than wait on the box.. I thought it was about the birds in the paper box, not the paper box.. I will rethink that after reading planets post.. Planet tell us about the birds you received in the box.. Did you get stock that made roll or were they junk like the box you got? I think that is the meat of ethical or not in your post.. Just my opinion, Mongrel lofts

Don't worry about the trees, I have read several times that there are more trees today than there were a hundred years ago!
Hey Paul, I remember that box. That thing was so old the pigeons were slipping out the tears in the bottom and flying all over the cockpit of the airplane they were on and trying to get the plane to roll! At least thats how I heard it! LOL ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria
