Does anyone know where to get good red winter wheat in the Dallas Fort Worth area? My dad is able to get some, but not year round. Are there any online stores that are worth looking at for this?
Thanks Chad

Jones Seed Company 1-888-595-7333. They can get you any single grains and offer several pigeon mixes. They are located in Lawton,OK. Thier website is currently down and is being reconstructed. Very, very good people to work with. ---------- Snicker Rollers

Thanks guys. I almost have my kit box built and dad has a small kit that will be ready for us in a couple of weeks. I think he is pretty excited about us getting into the sport because he just bought 6 pair of breeders from a guy in CA. They should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to start flying some birds.

Chad, you need to consider the cost of shipping. For a 50lb of grain shipped to your house is very hefty in price. It is about three times the cost of the feed. Best is to use just regular wheat which is available everywhere as feed for livestock. I've been feeding my birds regular wheat, which is Ohio grown, for ages and they do just fine on it. As a matter of fact, they do just fine on wheat alone all year long. Pigeons are hardy and they get used to anything given to them. My advise to you is save your money and don't spend on things that might become very costly and unnecessary. If you spend more that $10.00 for a 50lb of regular wheat, then you spent too much. It goes from $4.50 to $7.00 depending on the supplier. Don't let the cost of feed impact your hobby negatively. Just food for thought...

Thanks for the input Jay. I did find it locally. The shipping would add about $10 to the price. I think that my dad is dead set on the red wheat though. The company that Nick recomended is not to far and they wholesale to Russels Feed in Ft.Worth. We will just have to request them to order it. Bags will be in th $8 range.
Thanks to all Chad

Chandler, Check with any feed store. There should be some around the FW Rodeo Grounds. Try a Co-Op good luck.
---------- If they don`t kit,they don`t score. Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly. It`s a comp thing,understand?

How many days can you feed how many pigeons on 50 lb of wheat? Find someone you like; trust; and thier product quality is top shelf even if it means paying a buck more. If that dollar breaks your bank; find another job or ask for a raise(LOL) ---------- Snicker Rollers
