I have a question for the comp/club members. How big of an area in general does your club cover, driving time, miles?
Basically want I want to know is how many fliers do you need to compete in any of the major flys in what radius?
Any estimates, guesses.Example 10 flyers within say a hours drive?------

Our club (CO State Roller Club) presently includes the CO Front Range from Denver to Loveland; about 80 minutes between the 2 farthest separated flyers; 12-14 active members. Visiting each member's loft makes for a very long day. So the Northern members compete one month, and the Southern members compete the next (all members are encouraged to attend all flys even if it's not their month to fly). At the end of the year, the flyer with the most accumulated points gets a trophy.

The "big" flys (WC and NBRC Fall Fly) are a little different because our region takes in more than the CO Front Range. We give ourselves 2 days for these flys. I cross my fingers that no one from a remote part of CO will call me up asking to be included in a "big" fly. But if that were to happen, we would accommodate.

Thanks Brian and Alan

I don't know a single flier within a hours drive.Atleast no one that flys in competition.I have talked to Jay(jstar) on line but he at least 90 minutes away.Any thoughts on recruiting fliers.I got to tell you I'm jealous it seems to be a roller desert around here, without the internet I have to go talk to my birds.
P.S. I already do but don't tell the missus.

I'm a supporting member of the B.C. Roller Club which has 11 members but only 8 or so fly in comp.Southwestern most member lives 40 minute drive,2 hour ferry and 8 hour drive away from northern most member.

Ron,
Welcome to my world. Only way to grow is to recruit.
Once the word gets out among the "bird" people there will be people asking to get into the game.
I went to one of my giuys house the other day and he has a guy who is interested and will probably get in. It will continue to grow exponentially til we get our own region,I hope. Lots of work and talking. Get a a gig at the school, invite your friends, anyone who says "I used to raise pigeons" is a potential.
Good Luck

Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly.
It`s a comp thing,understand?
