Hi,
I am wondering if Rollers are good feeders. I have several pair of Frillbacks and am wanting to find smaller birds to use as feeders for the Frillback. My Frillbacks seem to have a hard time raising their young to adulthood so I am considering using Rollers as feeders. Does anyone have experience doing this?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Randy, Welcome to the site.Rollers are good parents.Never had a problem yet with their raising young.Had some show homers and they were nothing but a pain when it came to parenting. ---------- Kelly

Hey if you are just wanting them as fosters I use homers. They are bigger birds and tend to feed very very well. C.J.

Hi,
I currently have 4 pair of Homers that I use for feeders, but would like to find smaller birds to use instead - plus I would love to have a small kit of Rollers to fly and enjoy. Does anyone else have experience using Rollers as feeders?
Thanks for your help!

Randy.I have 50+ pair of rollers that I use as foster parents.Never any problem and some even will raise 3 young.I have tried homers and other larger breeds but they always seemed to overfeed the young.I have had better success with the young if they are just filled to the limit rather than being stuffed with food.My second choice would be the Homer though. You have to select your foster parents just like you would any others. They have to be good parents. Another thing I like about rollers as fosters they are a lot easier to maintain. Also if you don't have the timing right with the eggs I just let them raise a round of their own and fly them out.Last 2 years the best roller I raised came from my foster pen where I let them choose their own mates.LOL.David
